Our Litigation philosophy is simple.
We litigate every case as if it is going to trial. Thorough preparation is the best way to maximize the possibility of success, and it allows our attorneys to accurately assess a case’s strengths and weaknesses.
We guide clients through the process of defending and, when necessary, bringing lawsuits. We listen to and understand your problems, goals, and limitations; ground ourselves in the facts and the law; think; honestly assess your case; strategically and crisply advocate for the best possible result; and keep you informed throughout.
Our expertise in complex and fast-paced public-policy and bankruptcy litigation keeps us sharp and efficient in handling other disputes, from business litigation to complex estates. Our track record of cost-effective success reflects our thorough preparation, creative problem solving, and outstanding advocacy.
Real Estate & Title
Hackstaff & Snow has represented individuals, companies, and title insurers in a wide variety of real estate/title defect litigation. This includes title reformations, quiet title actions, spurious lien claims, adverse possession, zoning, easement disputes, liens, eminent domain, trespass and nuisance, and covenant disputes.
Constitutional & Civil Rights
Hackstaff & Snow has represented many clients in Constitutional claims, including First-Amendment, freedom-of-speech, and free- claimsexercise. This practice grew from the firm’s long-standing election-law practice.
Hackstaff & Snow wins appeals by thinking outside of the box, mining the record, understanding legal nuances and complexities, and advocating clearly and concisely within the concise, reasoned, and, tempered “box” that appellate courts expect. Our attorneys have effectively handled a broad range of state and federal appeals, and also acted as a consultant for other counsel in all aspects of the appellate process. Our attorneys have won cases in the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado and federal courts of appeals.
Hackstaff & Snow regularly represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service to resolve outstanding tax disputes. Attorneys at the firm have successfully appealed proposed tax liabilities in excess of half-a-million dollars, negotiated multiple offers-in-compromise, and obtained manageable installment agreements on behalf of clients.
